The Department was established in 1999. This dept. accredited by NBA for 5 years in 2006.The present intake of this dept. is 60. Faculties and lab staff of this department are dedicated for the innovation and new projects development which are worthwhile for the society. Students of this department having keen interest in research work. Conducting workshop on different emerging topics, industrial tour and training in technical topics is the part of our curriculum. Department is also focused in faculty development programme for improving the teaching and learning process.

Grate Performance: Shri Gaurav Shrivatav of Final year secure position among top 10 % of the country by scoring above 90 percentile in GATE-2010. International Paper by student. Shri Harshal Pauranik submitted a paper for presentation in the international conference
Seminars And Workshops
- Workshop on Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Technology and Sciences was held on 28th and 29th August.
- Speakers were from MP Council of Sc. & Tech, MANIT, AMPRI(Govt. of India)
- The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Ashish Dongre Directed Technical Education, MP.
- A National Conference on â€œAdvances in Concrete Technology was held by the Department in which total 43 papers on the subject where presented.
Tours And Industrial Visits
Many Industrial and tours where conducted by the department of civil engineering to give actual feeling of the civil engineering works .The details of some of them are as under
|1||24.03.2009||Visit to Kolar dam: It is an earthen gravity dam the students study the Spillways, Gates, Infiltration Gallery & Canal Works along with the water supply system.|
|2||26.10.2009||Visit to D.B. Mega Mall: It is a Rs 450 crore project being constructed with ultramodern methods materials and machinery .The students studies the post construction detection and correction method(Retofiting) and includes ReadyMix Concrete, Computarised batching method etc.|
|3||04.12.2009||Visit to Aerodrom: To visualize the air traffic control and the airport system and layout the students where guided by the airport authority personal at Raja Bhoj airport Bhopal.|
|4||11.01.2010||Visit to Sewage Disposal Plant: the students visited the sewage disposal plant at BHEL and Municipal Corporation plants. Studied the methodology and compare them.|
|5||18.01.2010||Visit to Railway Yard: Students visited Mandideep Railway Yard and Visualized the actual safety and other system of railways which they study in subject railway engineering.|
|6||17.03.2010||Visit to Hiranighat: Drinking water supply projects from river Narmada at Hoshangabad to Bhopal is under construction. Students saw earth moving, transportation, Filtration, Storage and Distribution methods.|
|7||30.03.2010||Visit to Water Supply Plant: Student studied the pumping treating and Processing method of Bhopal Municipal Corporation Water Plant.|

These Laboratories are equipped with required and modern machinery, instruments and apparatus, along with required materials.Department has fully fledged faculty, which imparts educational instructions with keen interest and sincerity.Students under technical visit are taken to projects in progress/ completed, to get hands-on experience and vision.Department is active enough to arrange expert lectures, workshops, seminars, staff development programme to update faculty and provide opportunity to field engineers for continuing education.
