Welome to Dept. of Orthodontics
Orthodontics is a type of dentistry that aims to improve the appearance, position and function of crooked or abnormally arranged teeth.
Healthcare professionals who specialise in orthodontics are known as orthodontists.
Orthodontics uses devices such as a brace to correct the position of the teeth as an abnormal development of the teeth and jaw can affect the shape of the face, which could cause psychological and emotional problems, such as lack of self-confidence etc. Apart from teeth, orthodontists are specialized in correcting malocclusions developing out of skeletal and structural abnormalities of head and neck, such as cleft lip & cleft palate.
Clinically, the department deals with the patients with deformities in the jawbone, abnormal alignment of teeth, and unaesthetic facial profile, to accomplish the maximum esthetic and functional outcome for individual patients. Computerized analysis and prediction of treatment changes in the facial bones and soft tissues are available for better understanding and communication between patient and doctors.
